Matt Meagher
Producer
For twenty years Matt
Meagher was the Senior Investigative
Correspondent for the nationally syndicated news program Inside Edition. From
Middle America to the Middle East, Matt Meagher made it his
mission to expose scams, corruption and injustice.
Working
alongside top-notch producers and daring cameramen, his award- winning
investigative stories have sent con artist to jail, cost judges and congressmen
their jobs, taken dangerous and even deadly products off store shelves, taken
twisted televangelist off the air, and shut down scam companies that prey on
the poor and elderly. His stories
have earned dozens of prestigious awards and have resulted in several
congressional investigations—the most recent of which was reported just months
ago, when Matt and his team uncovered and exposed the unlawful and outrageous
practices of a multi-billion dollar insurance company teaching new agents how
to scam elderly consumers out of their life savings.
In
addition to his investigative and consumer reporting Inside Edition has
repeatedly dispatched Matt to some of the worlds most dangerous “hot spots”.
During the 1994 Civil War in Rwanda, he was one of a handful of reporters who
dared to sneak into the country to document the horrific genocide. On September
11th 2001, he and his crew were at the foot of the North Tower of
the World Trade Center as it fell. He was then sent for months “on the trail of
Osama Bin Laden” to Yemen, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. When US troops invaded
Iraq, Matt was embedded with the Marines, and reported from Baghdad for weeks.
When hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans Matt stayed on Canal Street, despite the
mandatory evacuation, He reported on the fury of the storm and the folly of the
rescue response. Then months later he returned to New Orleans to expose
heartless con men building contractors who were defrauding hurricane victims
out of their insurance settlements.
